Festivities are closing up on us, with work’s party tomorrow night. Although my personal tribute to xmas has stayed at the bare minimum of hanging a string of lights at the front window I have immensly enjoyed my xmas-self. Showing my true colors on the bluestorm xmas campaign I am the snow woman. Enjoy the card and play the game too. Matty and Ricki spent…...

There are some things that make me miss Greece more than others. Two of these things I got yesterday through the post. Mummy’s olive oil, extra virgin, pressed last week, and her special salt & vinegar olives cured in olive oil. Ladies and gentlemen enjoy.. unfortunately the [crap] lighting of the room doesn’t do them justice. The olive oil is emerald green and fruity and the olives glosst, brown and crunchy. I will be getting better pictures with good light. Cis mama’s…...

I briefly read about this last night [half asleep] from the opera feed and when I saw it been mentioned on the WSG list this morning I went back to it to read it properly, and awake. Opera filed a complaint yesterday “on behalf of the consumers” “aimed at giving consumers a genuine choice of Web browsers”. According to their press release “Opera requests the Commission…...

If you’re thinking about doing any last minute Christmas shopping online this Christmas, PLEASE think about this: Shopping online with top retailers such as Marks and Spencer, Amazon and the Carphone Warehouse can now raise money for Dove House Hospice. The Hospice has launched a new service that brings some of the best online retailers into one website: www.buy.at/dovehouse. Each purchase made with a large selection…...

Well it is! After about two months since I move the previous version of the site to the archives I have finally managed to get this one back online. The brand new, shiny, butterfly-ie version of it. Powered by ExpressionEngine core as opposed to Wordpress and much more organised. Jquery to give me nice transparencies in IE and some Ajax-y tabs on the sidebar and equal height columns to balance things out. I’ve dropped the music section…...

… to [finally] finish this website this weekend. Although I am pretty much done there are still quite a few things to do, css tweaks, content to upload, images to crop etc etc. I made one critical error though and that was saying to myself that “I will do a quick tidy up in the flat and then get down to work”. 48 hours later I just about managed to look at the site, so tired that I can hardly keep my eyes open. I cleaned and scrubbed and dusted and hoovered till my feet…...

After reading about g.ho.st on the times online blog I decided to have a little play around with it and see what it’s all about. The g®eek in me was pleasantly surprised. Although in alpha still it is quite fast, even on our office’s clogged lunchtime connection. It does feel and behave like a pc or shall I say workstation. Start menu, control panel, contextual menus are all present and…...

It is a truth universally acknowledged that I do not understand how the NHS [mal]functions in this country and that everytime I have to deal with it I come away hating it even more. I have been living in the UK for over ten years now, I’ve got a well paid job from the salary of which the government takes a nice percentage off for National Insurance contributions and taxes and yet whenever I need medical attention I get treated like I’m asking for charity…...

In my last post I was going on about needing more time and a few days later that is the thing I am still craving and thinking about the most. Work, life and love all require time, effort and 100% commitment and all are equally important to me, bringing me to the point that I need to prioritize one over the other and that’s when the going gets tough. For as long as I can remember my mom, a very very active woman, managed to keep a family, a couple of jobs and a household going and…...
The last few weeks I have been trying to finish the rebuilt of this site from the ground up. I’ve been working hard, planning every little detail from the structural stuff, the data modeling, the visuals and starting to put together the database and the css and xhtml for the templates. I find myself however having to overcome many obstacles, with the biggest one being the fact that when I get home from work I’m absolutely mashed and trying to make sense of things is quite often…...

For a few months now I had been planning to redesign this website, visually and structurally. Work and personal commitments set this plan back a few months but I finally made the decision to go ahead. To force me into doing things more organized and to stop me from procrastinating I moved the old site to the archives. You will still be able to find my ramblings from the last 3 years till the 18th of this month and the site as…...
