back to school

Although I finished school and uni a good number of years ago, the beginning of September still holds for me that “back to school” feeling. It’s always the time I make plans and resolutions for the next few months, get my life and house in order and after a holiday rest, I feel ready to go on to new things.

The last few weeks I relaxed a lot, refilled my batteries, got new ideas, made new plans and started setting targets, all starting from tomorrow, the first of September. I’ve got new sketch pads and stationary, cleaned out old projects and milestones from basecamp, organised my backpack and finally today I’m redoing my office space. I even got a new leather chair for my desk so that I am sat comfortably when geeking out.

I got a new notepad for my legendary lists split in five sections, Life, Work, Personal Projects, Home, Gaming which I’ve already started filling up with things I want to do. Reading through these lists I see myself as the true geek-homemaker I am. It includes things ranging from “reorganizing the freezer and kitchen cupboards” and “DIY in the living room”, to “getting T6 on mage b4 WOLTK”, “realigning blog” and “learning RoR and RSpec properly”.

I’ve got myself excited and geared up for more work, more play, more projects. I know some things I wont find time to do. I also know I’m gonna spend more time doing things that are not even in my plans cause life does have this thing of throwing surprises at you.

However it feels good to take stock of where I am and set little targets for the foreseeable future, knowing that when I manage to succeed in completing these the feeling of satisfaction will give me even more energy to do new things.
