For the last few years this site has been hosted on streamline.net’s unlimited package which was up to recently a very pleasant experience. Great support, nearly no downtime etc. etc. I have been so happy in fact that I have referred them to many friends and clients. In the past year tough I have noticed that although the company seems to be up-scaling, their service didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, support is still great and overall the service is not bad. That’s only when the site is under normal circumstances though. A couple of delicious link-backs or one twitter referral and then site performance goes downhill. Server time-outs, 500 errors and more goodies out of the error bag.
Reading Rachel Andrew’s #p52 post a few days ago Choosing web hosting , a number of concurrent visits to the site that nearly killed the server and my inability to upgrade from expressionengine 1.6.8 to 2 got me thinking about changing my hosting provider. This morning I asked for hosting suggestions on twitter and a load of you referred a number of services that you are happy with. Media Temple, which was initially suggested by @pollingj , appeared to be the most favored service so after a bit of research into your proposed providers and packages, I decided to go with them. So many happy customers cannot be wrong (I hope).
I have gone with the grid service package which seems more than enough for my current modest needs. I will start transferring sites and services over tonight and hope to have a smooth transition in the next few days. If however the site is down or you can’t reach my by email please be patient and try again soon, or get in touch with me via twitter

This is my hope. With this faith in Web Standards and Accessibility for all people and devices we will be able to make a better Web. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of the browsers to a beautiful symphony of design, functionality and content. With this faith we will be able to work better, to play better, to struggle less, knowing that all devices will treat our work equally & with respect.
