It’s the holiday season

First day of my two week holiday today and I was woken up early by a call from work. A naughty mongrel had crashed taking down with it a site and of course the client was whining. Being the good(?) person that I am and feeling sorry for the people who are still stuck at the office, I kicked that mongrel back into working and as sleep was out of the question any more, I am sat here planning the holidays something I had not done till now.

Honestly this year the Christmas spirit is eluding me. All I’ve done in preparation is put a couple of strings of fairy lights in the windows and put up a mini xmas tree. By mini I mean a 40cm filigree xmas tree which is now positioned on my kitchen table. This morning though, with a massive for my standards two week block of free time, I started thinking of all the things I want to do.

I want to and will be spending time with my friends, who I’ve sort of neglected lately. I’ll be spending time with the One’s family which I also didn’t see enough of this year, and I’m gonna be extra nice to them, cos they are sort of family and this time of year I miss mine so much. Of course I’m gonna cry a little on xmas day, boxing day and new year’s eve, cos I’m a big girl and miss my mommy and brother.

I will cook AND bake! Not that I don’t cook the rest of the year, but apart from the lean meat and salads and all the other healthy stuff we eat the rest of the time (with few exceptions), I will be making ekmek kadayif and syrupy pantespani , the bread of gods, which are two of my specialties. Do take note of the sugar quantities on both recipes, LoL.

After the social, drinking and eating activities I’m planning to give myself enough time to play and geek out. WoW is on the list as two more toons are waiting to join my other two at level 80. Ruby on Rails is also on the list, as there are so many things I want too read about and try out. Actually my RoR reading is the only thing that I have actually assigned time for since I need solid blocks of time for reading, implementing and testing.

Apart from “doing things” though I’m hoping to get some much needed sleep, rest and recharge my batteries for the new year. All good and well having plans and wanting to do things but I wanna regain my energy most of all, cause what’s the point in wanting to do all these things if I’m tired all the time.

So my dear friends I hope we all have a lovely Christmas and the we’re all given the opportunity to achieve the things we want in the New Year. May we all be happy and content. Now off to use my turkish connections so I can get some kadayif fillo, my kitchen awaits me!
