Whether you like it, or not!
After a very long time in my old clothes [skin] I decided to change the way this website looks and feels as well as some of the content. This change had been brewing for a while now. Since the beginning of the year I started experimenting with different ideas, but like it always happens when I spend too much time on something, by the time I implemented most of these ideas I was pretty bored with the whole look and feel of the “new site”. Being your own client always sucks, cause you can change the spec and scope of a site at a whim and there is no one and no costs to stop you. So the site kept changing and I kept procrastinating.
To cut a long story short I suddenly had a little inspiration where everything felt right. And this incarnation of the site was born. I wanted something light an airy. Something with the trademark “acidsmile” colors pink and blue. Something that put in use my favorite font of the moment Daniel and my favorite script Cufon. Somwhere that I could showcase my favorite work & personal projects. And write about what goes on in my head.
I have made few updates on the structure of the site, loosing some sections that I felt were not necessary. I have updated the work section to include my most favorite projects, most of them which I have worked on with the rest of the bluestorm team. I decided to include the ones which when I look back at them still make me smile, mostly because they challenged me and while working on them I learned new things from the wonderful world of RoR or I simply had good fun building them. More will be added soon I promise, as I promise not to neglect this site again as I did in the past year or so.
Overall I am happy with the result. It feels like me and it contains the things that make me who I am. My interests, my work, my personal projects, my twitter addiction which has moved from a hidden panel in the sidebar to the forefront.
For those of you who are as anal as I am just a few words of warning. Although I have done my best, I know that this site might suck in IE6 but meh. I believe that IE should die a slow and painful death very very soon. If you still use IE6, tough cookies! Plus the percentage of my visitors who still use it is minute. Ref Accessibility, I know this site is not perfect, especially with images turned of but that is coming in phase two. If I procrastinated any longer in putting this site live to do everything that needed doing, I would have still been here in 6 months time. Also for mobile users you should have a mobile friendly version coming up in the next few days as well as proper print stylesheets, which although they were planned for tonight, Cpt. Morgan’s decided against them ;)
So whether you like it or not, this is my new look. Feedback is welcome as always, either in the form of comments or by using the contact form on the footer. Have a poke around the site, make up your own minds and if you want visit again.
Yours truly, the Greek Geek.

Very nice work. I love it. I know the feeling of changing your mind and being your own boss. I’ve been trying but failing to change my site since the beginning of the year too.
Keep up the good work…
I am very impressed.
The design feels so original. It is beautifully crafted. Your code is poetry.
Great, so great work! I absolutely love it.
Looks fantastic! :)
totally clean.
Thx for the kinds words guys, glad you like it.
Still needs a bit of tweaking but this is my long awaited weekend away from the mac so it will have to wait :)

First of all, it’s heavy! You don’t want me to start with Yslow :p At least gzip Mariaaa! EE powah, or even try to use templating cache in specific parts.
Now, besides that, I LOVE IT. you’re design is so unique but somehow since i got to the footer the idea of that pink/red/whatever color stucked into my head… I would love it blending above with the blue one!
About the posts titles, i’ve already told you i luv them too :D
PS: IF, you know if… i was something like… “make the comment form look as beautiful as the rest of the blog” I would be considered bad? :$
heh, that’s it… ?’??????! [ “me likes” in Greek ]
LoL @Hitman, you are not bad dear, when I said above that feedback is welcome, I meant it.
I do appreciated your input, especially as it highlights issues that I myself wanted to address. That’s what I meant with “it needs a lot of tweaking”.
Sadly the heavy bit has got even worse in the last few days. My webhost appears to be having issues with the sql server which has a detrimental effect overall.
Add to that some 500 errors in the last three days and I am considering a move after been with them for years.
We shall see, I will keep you posted.
