You know you are addicted to WoW when…

• 90% of the podcasts you listen to are on WoW Radio
• The last thing you do before setting off for work in the morning is to check the AH [Auction House]…
• … and that’s the first thing you do in the evening
• When your boyfriend asks for chocolate cake and you ask him to go to the supermarket for the “mats”
• When walking to the bus stop in the morning you wish you could “portal” to work
• When walking home from work in the evening you wish you could “hearth” back
• When you sign a birthday card “GZ on dinging 21!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” [with all 27 exclamation marks at the end of it]
• When on the bus you wish you were on your “epic” mount
• When your nightmares take place in Booty Bay

• When one of your nightmares is getting ganked by a hunter and his pet while you are picking vegetables in Tesco

All the above have happened to me at some point, some more than once. Is it a coincidence that one of my favorite shows on WoW radio is Warcraft Anonymous? I have clear boundaries between real life and gaming and I seem to have my priorities straight ie Real Life > Virtual Life, but I give to both a great amount of effort and time and I really enjoy both.

I enjoy immensely when a work project is successfully finished and I love spending time with my loved ones. Yet at the same time I am equally excited when I get a new piece of gear or manage to successfully complete an instance with my friends. I work hard on any new venture to make it a success but I also concentrate on my ingame goals and try to complete them successfully. For my latest web project I worked constantly even throughout weekends for a while and I never even thought of WoW. However when that was done and dusted I decided that I wanted to get my epic mount in game and for 10 days after work I played for a considerable amount of time to manage to get the huge amount of gold to purchase it.

Am I strange? Am I too old [like my mom says] to play games, especially when I invest so much time and effort into them? Do you get really really into your gaming, or any other hobby you might have? Does it affect any aspect of your real life?

Okay:
1. You’re never too old to play games! My folks (65+) are talking about buying a Wii all of a sudden.

2. I don’t play WoW, but know from experience that when you’re dreaming the game, you’ve got a serious infatuation on your hands.

3. I sometimes wish that I could just walk into random houses and collect loot like ya do in RPGs…
